Arsenal has confirmed the appointment of Mikel Arteta as their new manager replacing compatriot Emery on a three and a half year contract .
The 37 year old Spaniard arrives at the Emirates following a successful spell as the Assistant coach of Man city .
During his three and a half year spell at the Etihad, he led the blues to two consecutive premier league trophies. He’s believed to have been a key figure under Guardiola and is credited with development of several youngsters like Rahim sterling and Lorey Sane. Arsenal will hope he transfers those skills to youngsters at the emirates .
Arteta told Arsenal Official website “This is a huge honour. Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We need to be competing for the top trophies in the game and that’s been made very clear to me in my discussions with Stan and Josh Kroenke, and the senior people from the club.
“We all know there is a lot of work to be done to achieve that but I am confident we’ll do it. I’m realistic enough to know it won’t happen overnight but the current squad has plenty of talent and there is a great pipeline of young players coming through from the academy.”
Former Chelsea and madrid Coach carlo Anchelotti was believed to take on from but its believed Arsenal withdrew their contract offer in favor of Arteta .
