The First Lady and Minister for Karamoja Affairs Mrs. Janet Museveni has advised the youth aspiring to join politics to first build their characters founded in the knowledge and fear of God because this is the beginning of all wisdom. She also cautioned the youth to remember that politics is service to the people and not all about just earning money and publicity.
She said that her struggle for many years has been to educate the youth to first of all look for God and give Him a place in their hearts and then all other things will fall in the right place. She said that she prefers working with youth whose characters are built on God because they are stable, reliable, and dependable and cannot be bought by money or anything. “When your character is built on God, nothing can shake you, nobody can buy you and nobody can offer you anything to take you off track”, she said.
Mrs. Museveni, who said politics must have a purpose for people as individuals and for the country, emphasized that it is important for Ugandans to build a nation with a reputation in the world that they can be proud of because it is the only home they have on the face of the globe. She urged the youth to use the Movement as a platform to work together, serve the nation and build our homeland Uganda into a much better place to live in.
Using her own testimony, the First Lady encouraged the youth to be God fearing and to always pray to God and He will provide solutions to their problems.
She contributed towards establishment of a SACCO for the National Youth Coalition Network and urged the members to embrace the heart of saving to enable the SACCO grow and in turn help them solve their personal problems. She also encouraged them to access the Youth Fund and invest in income generating activities that will enable them get some money to save.
The National Youth Coalition Network is a youth organization that helps the youth from higher learning Institutions to work together. They mobilize themselves through intellectual debates and also serve the people and give back to their communities as their as their corporate responsibility.
