The First Lady and Minister for Karamoja Affairs Hon. Mrs. Janet Museveni has commended the people of Kaliro and the Glory Ministries International Community Foundation for choosing to support and develop the potential of vulnerable children for the benefit of the future and humanity.
She said that the chain can only be as strong as its weakest link therefore uplifting the weakest people in the communities who include children, the elderly and sickly is the testimony of the strength of a Nation.
“It is from the young people that any nation gets its strength therefore they should be the first group to be supported as their problems cannot wait because if they grow with the problem they become a problem to the nation. If we come together to support them and lift them up, then it will testify for the strength of our nation”, she said.
Mrs. Janet Museveni was in Kaliro District on Friday at the invitation of the State Minster for Environment Hon. Flavia Nabugere Munaaba who is also the area MP, to join in the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of Glory Ministries International Community (GLOMIC) Foundation which took place at Kaliro Community Foundation School and Orphanage in Lwamboga, Gadumire Sub County.
GLOMIC Foundation under its objective of eradicating poverty through education and Hon Munaaba’s vision established two community schools and orphanages at Lwamboga and Kasokwe in Kaliro District.
Mrs. Museveni congratulated Hon Munaaba and the people of Kaliro for having had the wisdom to realize the value hidden in the orphaned and vulnerable children in their midst and appreciated the moral values being instilled in them in the community schools.
She requested the people of Kaliro to commit to reduce the number of new orphans and vulnerable children by ensuring that expectant mothers take advantage of the health facilities and get professional help to prevent the complications which lead to their death and that of their new-born babies so as to address the problem of the big number of mothers dying in the process of child birth.
