
Sister Maria Thereza Kizito Nambi, a revered catholic nun, succumbed to pneumonia on Monday morning at 3am in Nsambya Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Mourners converged at the Gogonya Sisters Convent Church in Kawuku, off Entebbe Road to pay their final respects to the former St. Agnes Primary School Headmistress who died aged 87.
In his sermon, Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga described the Late Sister Kizito Nambi as a bridge that united Catholics to Jesus Christ. Archbishop Kizito Lwanga urged Catholics to learn from the Late Sister Maria Thereza Kizito Nambi and carry on her good works.
“We thank God for the gift of life of Sister Maria Thereza Kizito Nambi. She was a bridge that united Catholic to Jesus Christ. She was a very hard working woman who selflessly preached and taught the Gospel. She loved children and always taught them Catechism. We thank God for the good things she has done for the Nation, the Catholic Church and above all for her tireless effort in teaching the gospel to the Young generation”, Archbishop Kizito Lwanga said.

Mayor Vincent Kayanja DePaul described late Sister Kizito Nambi as an outstanding woman of God who loved and cared for People. Mayor Kayanja revealed that the late sister was a close friend of his late mum.
“Late Sister Maria Thereza Kizito Nambi was among the old catholic leaders in Entebbe that we always looked up to. She was a close friend of my late Mum. They always interacted as colleagues when she was the St. Agnes Head mistress and my late Mum served as the St. Joseph’s Katabi Head Mistress. When my mum was brutally killed, it was Late Sister Kizito Nambi who took on and looked after our lastborn”, Mayor Kayanja revealed.

The Late Sister Maria Thereza Kizito Nambi graduated as a Christian Religious Education (CRE) teacher in Nkozi and held several positions including Head Mistress at St. Agnes Primary School from 1975 -1983, Gogonya Sisters Convent and Mary Reparatrix in Entebbe. At the time of her death, she was the Head mistress Jinja Karoli Parish Nursery School. After the requiem mass, the Late Sister Maria Thereza Kizito Nambi was laid to rest at the Gogonya Sisters Cemetery.
