


Former Internal Affairs permanent secretary, Paul Muchenga Bachenga passed away in May 2009 while on business trip to Dubai then to London and on his return he collapsed in a hotel room before boarding a flight to Uganda. The former Government officer passed away mysteriously and was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Kashenyi village, Ishaka . Hundreds of people flooded the Bugonga Catholic Parish church to pay their last respect to the highly educated and hardworking man whose flesh will never be replaced but to be remembered thru his works and prayers. It’s now 7years down the road since the Entebbe senior citizen passed away in pain but his legacy still lives on. And this week, we celebrate the life and works for the man who contributed heavily to different communities including owning a multibillion hotel facility with over 50 rooms and employing hundreds of young people.

Paul Muchenga Bachengana was born to the late Paulino Muchenga and Nzenia Muchenga of Nyakatugunda, Ishaka, Bushenyi District.
He started his school life at Rwakashoma Primary School then to Kitabi Junior School where he completed his primary school education before joining St Henry’s College Kitovu for ‘O’ and High certificate and thereafter he joined Makerere University Where he graduated with a bachelors in Arts(Hon) Economics and Geography. In 1978-79, he obtained a diploma in public administration from the Institute of Public Administration, Kampala.
Paul served this nation in different capacities and grew in different ranks in his career., He started as an Assistant District Commissioner Karamoja-Moroto in 1974 then to Assistant District Commissioner Masaka then in 1977, he was appointed Assistant Secretary in the Ministry Of Works. In 1980, He served as Assistant District Commissioner Kabarole District and then served as District Commissioner Luwero District. He rose to the rank of Senior Assistant Secretary Ministry of Health, Entebbe and Senior Assistant Secretary Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kampala. In 1986, he was appointed the principal assistant secretary Ministry of Public Service and then to undersecretary position in the same ministry. In 1998 to 2001, he served as permanent secretary Ministry of internal affairs and secretary Police Authority. Paul served the community in different capacities including Deputy Mayor Entebbe Municipal Council and Committee Member Wakiso District Service Commission. He was a member of the Lions Club of Entebbe. His career was defined by hard work, honesty and commitment. To the community, his constant support and allegiance will forever be missed.
