As Euro 2024 approaches, Group F promises to deliver exciting matchups featuring Portugal, Czechia, Türkiye, and Georgia. Each team brings unique strengths and challenges, making this group one to watch closely.
Portugal, ranked 6th in the world, enters the tournament as one of the favourites. Their impeccable qualification record (W10, D0, L0) saw them score 36 goals and concede just 2. With a balanced squad led by Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, Portugal boasts a formidable midfield and attack.
However, their defence, despite keeping 9 clean sheets in qualifiers, is considered their weaker link, and coach Roberto Martinez’s tactics will be tested against top teams.
Türkiye, ranked 40th, qualified with a record of W5, D2, L1, scoring 14 goals and conceding 7. The team benefits from a strong midfield, featuring Hakan Calhanoglu, and will enjoy local support in Germany.
However, injuries to key defenders and the absence of a reliable striker pose significant challenges. Arda Guler is a potential breakout star, while Calhanoglu remains a key player for fantasy managers.
Czechia, ranked 36th, offers a defensively solid unit, having conceded only 6 goals in qualifiers (W4, D3, L1). Their challenge will be to perform against stronger opponents like Portugal and Türkiye. Patrik Schick, a standout in the previous Euros, and Tomas Soucek will be pivotal for their success. Defender David Jurasek also presents a valuable option for fantasy enthusiasts.
Georgia, making their major tournament debut, are ranked 75th and have a mixed qualification record (W3, D3, L4). Their counter-attacking style, led by rising star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, could pose problems for more established teams.
While their midfield and wing-backs are areas of concern, Kvaratskhelia’s talent makes him a notable fantasy choice. Giorgi Chakvetadze and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili are also worth considering.
With Portugal favoured to top the group, the battles between Türkiye, Czechia, and Georgia for the remaining spots are expected to be fiercely contested.
