The Principal of Makerere Business School,Prof. Waswa Balunywa,has urged the Entebbe business community to focus on the quality of their products and also to employ trustworthy persons in their businesses to enable smooth growth of their respective businesses. He reasons that once business proprietors work on the quality of their products and also build trust among their employees, the future of business growth would consequently be bright.
Prof. Balunywa attributed the degenerated business culture in Uganda to poor work ethics that can’t enable our businesses to compete globally.
Rhoda Peace Tumusiime, the chairperson of Entebbe Chamber of Commerce as well as the proprietor of Askay hotel, revealed that in order to address challenges failing the business community, the Chamber of commerce decided to hold a business summit every year to build capacity and energy of the business community.
Belinda Komunjeru, the product manager Equity Bank, revealed that Equity Bank is committed to sponsoring Business summits to enable innovators and big minds to build capacity of business people on how to improve their respective businesses.
Steven Mulindwa, the Principal Commercial officer Entebbe Municipal council, urged the business community to focus on local content and to involve the government where it’s necessary.
Godfrey Bwandinga, the president of Entebbe Municipal Development(MDF), revealed that the just concluded Business Summit was intended to boost trade and commerce in Entebbe ahead of city status in 2026.
Apostle Peter Kisakye Zimula, the public relations officer for Entebbe Chamber of Commerce, noted that the Business Summit coordinated and networked all businesses in Entebbe and called on for concerted efforts to revamp businesses that were crashed by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and it’s induced lockdown.
Micheal Kakembo Mbwatekamwa, the legislator for Entebbe Municipality, tasked the Entebbe chamber of commerce and Entebbe Municipal Development Forum to involve parliamentarians on the trade committee in their business summits to enable the government to make informed policies.
