
The third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without a Portfolio, Lukia Isanga Nakadama, has appealed to the management of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) to consider employing more Moslems as part of affirmative action.
The third Deputy Premier said employing more Muslims as staff of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority is a clear manifestation of fairness. She sounded the appeal during the Iftar dinner organized by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority to help Muslim faithfuls break the fast as the holy month of Ramadan nears an end.
Premier Nakadama implored the management of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority to continue employing more Muslims, saying this would help management learn more things from them.
She asked all Muslims fasting during Ramadan to observe the five obligatory daily prayers and to feed fellow Muslims during this fasting period so as to be able to get rewards from Allah (God).
“During Ramadan, people eat together regardless of their wealth. I am so grateful to the management of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority for organizing the Iftar dinner for Entebbe Muslims. I also thank the Authority Director General for joining Muslims to break the fast,” said Nakadama.
She further thanked the management of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority for improving Entebbe International Airport by giving it a facelift.
The founding chairman of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Muslim Association, Hajji Siraje Ndahura, informed Premier Nakadama that for several years they have demanded management of the authority allocate Muslim land to construct a mosque at Entebbe International Airport, but in vain.
In response, the Director General of the of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Fred Bamwesigye, informed the premier that in their second phase of upgrading and expanding the airport, they intend to construct places of worship for all religions, just like other international airports.
The Director of Human Resources and Administration at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Saba, appreciated the management of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority for recognizing Muslims by organizing their Iftar dinner during this holy month of Ramadan.
The Deputy Mufti as well as Imam Makerere Business School, Sheikh Muhammad Waiswa, urged Muslims to take on practical lessons during Ramadan even after it comes to an end.
The chairperson of the UCAA Muslim Committee, Hajj Rashid Bbale, noted that as Muslims, they are at peace with everyone at work and urged fellow Muslims to carry on good deeds even after Ramadan.
