Creator Launches Professional Music Production Program to Develop Uganda’s Global Music Talent

Creator, a professional music development company and creative ecosystem established by Practical Stream Uganda Limited, has launched its flagship One-Year Professional Music Production Program under Creator Academy, with a long-term goal of preparing Ugandan music professionals for international commercial opportunities.

The launch comes as Uganda’s music industry continues to produce talented artists, producers and songwriters who are gaining recognition beyond the country. However, Creator says a major gap remains in the availability of structured professional pathways that equip music professionals with the technical skills, business knowledge and industry experience needed to compete in global markets.

According to the company, the idea for Creator emerged while its founder, Moise Chitwara, and his team were developing Practical Stream’s global music licensing platform and engaging with international commercial opportunities. They identified a recurring challenge: Uganda has no shortage of creative talent, but many professionals lack access to practical training, commercial production standards, and industry systems necessary to build sustainable careers.

Creator was therefore established to bridge that gap by combining education, commercial production, industry collaboration, creative services, consultancy, events and an export pipeline within one ecosystem.

Its first major initiative, the One-Year Professional Music Production Program, is designed to prepare music producers for the demands of the modern music industry. The program combines practical music production, music business and character development, while giving students an opportunity to build professional portfolios and develop skills applicable to real-world commercial environments.

Unlike conventional training programmes that largely end after graduation, Creator says its ecosystem is designed to connect learning with professional opportunities. Graduates are expected to have opportunities to participate in commercial production projects, creative campaigns, consultancy initiatives, industry events and the Creator Export Pipeline.

The export initiative will seek to connect qualified music professionals with international opportunities in areas including music publishing, licensing, sync placements, distribution and other commercial markets.

Creator says its training approach is based on practical industry experience, with instructors drawing from production, release and monetisation principles that have been applied in real commercial environments. The company says the team behind the programme has contributed to music that has generated millions of streams across Europe and the United States.

Speaking at the launch, Creator founder Moise Chitwara said Uganda’s challenge is not a lack of talent but a shortage of infrastructure and structured pathways that can prepare professionals for international opportunities.

“While building Practical Stream, we realised Uganda doesn’t have a talent problem, it has an infrastructure problem,” Chitwara said. “We have gifted producers, artists, and songwriters, but too few structured pathways that prepare them for international commercial opportunities.”

He added that Creator’s ambition goes beyond teaching music production, with the organisation seeking to develop professionals capable of building sustainable careers and contributing to the growth of Uganda’s music industry.

Creator says raising professional standards in the sector will require more than technical training. The company intends to combine education with practical opportunities, industry collaboration and commercial exposure to help music professionals understand and participate in the global marketplace.

The launch of the Professional Music Production Program marks the first phase of Creator’s broader vision to build a stronger and more internationally competitive music industry. Through its integrated ecosystem, the company aims to develop professionals capable of producing world-class music while accessing sustainable commercial opportunities in Africa and international markets.

Creator operates through several initiatives, including Creator Academy, the Creator Production Hub, Creator Brand & Creative Campaigns, Creator Consultancy, Creator Events and the Creator Export Pipeline.

The company describes itself as a professional music development ecosystem built to develop, empower and commercialise music talent, with the broader ambition of contributing to the growth of Africa’s creative economy.

“Creator isn’t just where creators learn. It’s where creators become professionals,” the company says.
