The FUFA disciplinary committee has summoned Uganda Cranes third choice goalkeeper, Salim Jamal Magoola over comments he made during the players’ strike during the African Nations Cup in Egypt.

Following the players’ strike prior to the game against Senegal, the 24 year old Al Hilal shot stopper blasted Aru county MP, Odonga Otto for castigating the Cranes players.

In his tweet, Jamal said the vocal legislator had got his facts wrong on the strike, noting that he(Jamal) cannot fight over the peanut allowances given to them for playing for the national team.

However, in a July summon, Magoola is asked to appear before the football governing body’s disciplinary committee on Monday July 15, 2019 to answer a number of queries regarding the matter.

“You are therefore summoned to appear before the FUFA disciplinary panel in person with your written response on Monday July 15, 2019 at 2pm at FUFA house boardroom,” reads in part the letter.

According to the football governing body’s disciplinary committee, the comments by Salim Magoola were improper, abusive, insulting and brought the game of football into disrepute contrary to the FUFA rules and communications code.

“In case you fail to appear at the above prescribed time and place, the panel shall determine the matter with information at its disposal,” FUFA said in the letter.

When contacted for a comment over the same, Jamal Salim Magoola said he had been made aware of it but noted he was still driving and not in position to make a comment.

“I got the information but I am still driving. We shall communicate when I reach,” the 24 year old goalkeeper said.

The sit down strike by the Cranes players attracted mixed reactions among the public with many accusing them of greed whereas a section of the public said the players were entitled to their bonuses.

However, following a lengthy meeting, FUFA later accepted to pay each of the players $6000(Shs22M).

“FUFA has agreed to pay $6,000 over and above the agreed terms in the Code of Conduct and that matters of Finances will not be discussed until the end of Uganda cranes participation in the Tournament. This position has been duly communicated to the players,” a statement by FUFA said.
