City business man Dickluck Mwesigye has swallowed another carrot and landed a juicy deal to develop shops in a taxi park in Entebbe.
The former aviation staff turned businessman is on the spot after traders raising dust over the development of metallic containers shops in the Kitooro taxi park.
A lot of questions have been put forward to the municipal authorities after the businessman getting the deal to develop the upper government land overlooking the taxi park.
We highly established that over 60 lock ups have been developed at the government land with a lease hold of more than 5 years.
It’s not yet clear from the municipal authorities to the media after rushing the move to develop the said claimed with metallic containers hence dropping the earlier architecture plan.
“The municipal authorities have defended their proposal and claimed that the developed taxi park infrastructures cannot hold more two stories and that’s why they opted to use storied metallic containers ”, inside source.
“The municipal authorities got a private developer to erect more additional shops to supplement the first batch of shops (124) that have been erected under donor funds”, source added.
The municipal authorities have recommended the businessman to push forward with the development without making it public, which has sparked a bitter row with a section of traders, said one trader.
The town clerk Charles Magumba has not made any official statement to that effect and more so the mayor Vicent Kayanja Depaul since the development kicked off earlier this year.
In the twist of events this is not the first time the claimed businessman is signing secret deals with the municipal authourities, said angry trader.
In a letter dated 30th September 2020, the same businessman was stopped by the police authorities from developing their land at the Namate play ground with the influence of local authorities including councilors
Highly placed sources have revealed that the developer proposed to the municipal authorities to develop a modern container village at the land located adjust to the Entebbe police station and opposite the Central zone ‘B’ church.
