Like it has been the norm with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to give back to the community through different programs, on Wednesday the Entebbe International Airport landlords rolled out a blood donation campaign to kick start this year’s aviation week to celebrate CAA’s 25 year Silver Jubilee Aviation Safety. Speaking at the launch of the blood Donation campaign that was held at the CAA Headquarters Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Tumusiime urged the different leaders and authorities to engage and sensitize the Public about the importance of donating blood. She said that the public has a negative attitude towards blood donation which has seen the Nakasero blood bank and other hospitals run short of blood.
“There is a need to sensitize the public about donating blood because by donating blood lives are saved. Many people have died in hospitals because of lack of blood the most recent being the Late Dr. Abongomera Michael, a veteran Doctor in Entebbe who died in Nsambya Hospital after the Hospital failed to provide blood”, Hon. Tumusiime revealed.

Hon. Tumusiime called on the public to participate in blood donating campaigns adding that it is only through donating blood that lives are saved. She hailed CAA for the remarkable achievements including high level security, increase in New Airlines, Increase in passengers, increase in exports and imports at Entebbe Airport.
Meanwhile next week Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura will next week commission 45 new housing units that were constructed for the Aviation Police by CAA.
The blood donation campaign will end on Friday while the aviation week will climax on December 8 with a dinner. Several activities have been organized to celebrate CAA’s 25 years in existence including sponsoring a Golf Tournament at the Uganda Golf Club and recent Corporate League.
