Musician Bebe Cool has come under fire following his recent comments that he could easily sabotage any young musician’s music from airing on television and radio stations.
The Gagamel boss recently announced that he would be interacting with his fans in a TikTok live broadcast. While many tuned in, Bebe Cool cautioned fellow musicians who competed with him to be careful as he had the power to blacklist their music from playing anywhere on the Ugandan airwaves.
He said he could easily do this by pulling different strings, since he is close friends with all the owners of Ugandan radio and television. Even through third parties like deejays and MCs
“I want to tell all those competing with me that I’m not just friends with deejays but also the radio and television owners in Uganda. Before I even called the deejays, I would have already contacted the owner directly. If I decide that an artist’s song will not play, then it won’t because I have the owners of the stations, the deejay who plays it, the emcees, all of them,” Bebe Cool revealed.

His confession did not sit well with a section of users who were listening in. Many thought he was overestimating his self-importance in the music industry.

In their argument, users downplayed the role of TV and radio stations in the industry, reasoning that social media was the best way to promote music, since most consumers no longer listen to traditional media outlets.
