The development comes days after the joint forces launched aerial and artillery bombardments of ADF-controlled territory in North Kivu, eastern DRC on November, 30. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the National Forest Authority (NFA), on Tuesday launched the Uganda Natural Resource Information System (NARIS) designed to monitor and mediate deforestation throughout Uganda and protect the country’s forests and biodiversity. Kabale district authorities have resolved to petition the National Security Council to intervene in a matter in which Rwandan Nationals are said to have encroached on and planted trees on Ugandan land in Maziba Sub County, Kabale district. According to locals, early this year, Rwandan Nationals from Gisuru village in Nyagatare district crossed to Uganda and grabbed two hectares of land located at Kyaninanuunu hill, about five kilometers into Uganda; cleared it and planted trees. Uganda Police at Kasangati have in detention a woman who is alleged to have murdered her niece and dumped the body. The suspect has been identified by Kampala Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire as Dota Nyirabahirwe and the deceased as Michelle Kasekende, who was only aged 2 years and 8 months.
