In a major escalation of World War 3 fears, the United Nations has evacuated its headquarters in Iraq over an alleged “security threat”. UN personnel have been ordered to leave the Mission in Baghdad’s Green Zone, site of the US Embassy and many other major diplomatic buildings. The allegations, made in a legal complaint filed in a US federal court on Friday, say the firm violated US anti-terrorism laws. It was filed on behalf of families of US citizens killed in attacks in Afghanistan. Five other companies were also named in the filing. A Sudanese court on Monday sentenced 29 intelligence agents to death for killing a teacher in detention during protests against Omar al-Bashir, Sudan’s longtime former leader, earlier this year. The defendants were found guilty of deadly abuse against Ahmed al-Kheir at an intelligence services facility and sentenced to be hanged, judge Sadok Abdelrahman said. The teacher was beaten and tortured to death after he was arrested in late January by intelligence operatives in Sudan’s eastern province of Kassala, the judge said.
