The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has established a partnership with Uganda Police Force to ensure private security companies comply with the remittance of social security contributions for their employees by making possession of NSSF clearance mandatory. Under the partnership, the security companies will be required to obtain an NSSF clearance certificate as aprerequisite for an annual operation license. Parliament in Uganda has passed a law that abolishes the mandatory death penalty for certain crimes, amending four different laws that had earlier prescribed capital punishment, including the Anti-Terrorism Act. If approved by President Yoweri Museveni, the amendments will restrict the death penalty to just the most serious of crimes, only at the judge’s discretion. In a leaked internal memo, Multichoice Uganda will see some price changes that will affect most of their DStv and a few GOtv packages. According the memo that has been verified by some sources withing the company, with effect from 1st September 2019, pay TV company DSTV Uganda will reduce all their monthly subscriptions up to a tune of 30% for some packages.
