The constitutional court in Malawi has annulled the 2019 presidential elections over regularities. Court ordered for fresh elections in 150 days. Last year’s election in Malawi saw the incumbent President Peter Mutharika re-elected into office for his second term with a narrow 38.6%. Opposition candidates Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Saulos Chilima who finished second and third respectively petitioned court claiming that the election was full of irregularities. The government of Uganda has suspended labour export company ‘Middle East Consultants’ license for allegedly flouting labour laws, extortion, forgery, and violating human rights. State House head of Anti-Corruption Unit Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema and the Director for Labour at the Gender, Labour and Social Development Ministry Hon. The 600MW dam that was expected to be commissioned last year will now take another 12 months under construction by the Chinese firm, Sinohydro. Documents, critical to the construction project, seen by Nile Post, show that the delays were occasioned by defects on the dam, a string of unsubstantiated costs filed by Sinohydro and late purchase of land by government.
