Tuesday 28th June 2022 was the day scheduled by Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) electoral committee to hold the association’s long-awaited elections.

This did not happen as anticipated, following shortcomings which compelled the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development to halt the process until further notice.

However, the Ministry’s move of halting the election process did not settle well with some of UMA’s stakeholders, who stormed the national theatre in protest against the development.

In a bid to restore peace at the National theatre premises, singer Big eye and UMA aspiring general secretary Omukunjja Atasera were apprehended and detained by police.

The pair were later released on police bond, following the intervention of aspiring UMA presidential candidate Mansul Ssemand alias King Saha.
