The Ugandan creative industry mourns the unforeseen death of Ugandan playwright, actor, instrumentalist, and author Alex Mukulu.
Alex Mukulu has been a celebrated figure in the Ugandan creative industry, mentoring many and inspiring countless through his craft.
Unfortunately, Alex was recently attacked by an illness that had been bothering him for over a month before breathing his last yesterday, 15 August 2026.
While he was confined to his hospital bed in Kiruddu Referral Hospital, he was surrounded by some of his family members and a few of his close social circle who had conveyed their support to see that he beat the illness.
Despite medical experts’ efforts to restore his health, Alex Mukulu unfortunately lost the battle to an illness linked to liver complications.

According to reports, his body is still at the funeral home, while family members and creative industry stakeholders discuss how to give the fallen hero a proper and respectful send-off.
It is understood that Mukulu’s burial could be delayed until next week, as mourners wait for the arrival of the late’s family members, who are currently abroad and would wish to be part of the burial.
