Airtel Masaza Cup 2020: 14 Goals scored after match day 4 in Butikiro Group

The 2020 Airtel Masaza Cup was officially opened by His Majesty the Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II on 12th December 2020 as the defending champions Bulemeezi and Butambala shared the spoils 1 all.

The on-going Airtel Masaza Cup 2020 tournament at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru has so far witnessed 14 goals scored in the 6 games of Butikiro Group.

This annual tournament was officially opened by His Majesty the Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II on 12th December 2020 as the defending champions Bulemeezi and Butambala shared the spoils 1 all.

The biggest score-line so far has been Bulemeezi’s 4-0 win against Ssingo.

Gabriel Elagu, Hakiramy Muzanyi, Sulaiman Ssesazi (penalty) and Bernaldo Kateregga scored for Bulemeezi, a team coached by Yusuf Kinene, after head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa was thrown out of Njeru for breaching the camp rules.

This was followed by Mawogola’s 3-0 victory, still against Ssingo. Eric Mutebi scored a brace and Herbert Kibirango netted the other.

Match day 5 will be played on Saturday, 19th December 2020.

All the five teams have mathematical chances of progressing to the knock out stage.

The trio of Bulemeezi, Mawogola and Butambala all have 4 points from two games apiece.

Bulemeezi is ahead of the other two having scored more goals.

“We have to play the next two matches cautiously. We need at least a victory to be certain and avoid the mathematics on the final match day” Kinene disclosed.

Next Matches:

On Saturday, Butambala hosts Mawogola during the early kick off at 12 PM before Bulemeezi’s contest against Buluuli at 3 PM in the second game.

Only two teams will make it to the quarter finals that will be played in January 2021.

After Butikiro group, focus will turn to the Bulange group that arrives at Njeru on 27th December 2020.

The tournament is sponsored telecommunications giants Airtel Uganda Limited.

Other sponsors include Centenary Bank, Nabagereka Development Foundation and Kande Poultry Farm.

All the matches are played behind closed doors at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru
