Dancehall singer Kapeke, real name Derrick Nsubuga, has rejected any management signing, noting that he can handle all his businesses by himself.
While speaking to the media, Kapeke revealed that despite his brand growing bigger and stronger, he still does not feel the need to hire a manager. According to the singer, he is capable of handling all the responsibilities that a manager would typically oversee, including booking shows, managing his social media platforms, and coordinating his day-to-day music activities on his own.
Kapeke got his big breakthrough not so many years back and has been enjoying the spotlight both in and outside the country. He opposed a common belief that talented artists have failed to achieve bigger milestones because of a lack of management, as he insisted that he has reached where he is on his own.
“I just do not want to be disturbed. I am where I am not because of management. Who says I would have been better than this? Maybe where I am is where I deserve to be at this time; maybe I will go to greater heights tomorrow because this is not where I started from. I have achieved all this on my own, and I do not want anything to do with management.
Kapeke further revealed that management was ideal for artists who were just starting and needed a boost in their careers, especially with finances. He listed examples of big and influential artists who have parted ways with their management and all the challenges they have faced after walking away, noting he wouldn’t want to experience the same.

“All the big artists I have seen are separating from their management. I’m happy where I am. I have worked hard, and you cannot come out of nowhere and take over the things I have worked hard for because you claim to be my manager. You don’t pressure me; I’m too egoistic. I can take advice from people and actually use it, but stop at that. Do not overstep in my business because I might even choose not to listen because I’m big-headed,” Kapeke said.
