The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev Dr Samuel Stephen Kazimba Mugalu has called on Ugandans to come to the rescue of Church House by clearing its Shs 60 billion loan.
The Church of Uganda is struggling to repay the loan from Equity Bank to rescue Church House which sits along Kampala road.
Speaking at the commemoration of the Uganda Martyrs at Namugongo on Thursday, Kaziimba said he needed only 1 million Ugandans, each contributing 60,000 shillings to raise the money.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanya promised to have 100 million shillings raised in the next 6 months from the house to support the cause.
“We all collectively pray for you, sir (Archbishop) that you deliver on the mission, and we are with you all through. In the next 6 months, we will be raising 100 million to support the project,” he said.
