Captain Caroline Busingye, the UPDF trainee pilot who perished in a helicopter crash on Thursday last week in Entebbe has been laid to rest at her ancestral home in Rwekuraijo cell, Buyanja sub-county in Rukungiri district.
Capt. Busingye was a granddaughter to former Presidential Commission member Polycarp Nyamuchonco.
The Commission ceremonially led Uganda for a period of 6 months with Saul Musoke and Wacha Olwol from May to December 1980.
Ms Busingye succumbed to her injuries in hospital after the jet ranger she was flying with a colleague cadet came down shortly after take-off.

While speaking at the burial, Beatrice Nyamuconco her aunt who raised her after she lost her parents at 14 years told mourners that the deceased was a trustworthy lady who was developmental and supportive of their family.
“We don’t know how we shall manage in the world without her,” Nyamuchonco said.
Col. Fred Kiyingi, the commander of Entebbe Air Force base hailed Busingye for her commitment, adding that her death created a vacuum that would be hard to fill.
Col. Kiyingi assured the mourners that government will take care of her two young children and that her terminal benefits will be worked on and released to the family.
Aged 34, Captain Busingye left behind 2 children, the younger being 5 months old while the elder one was just 2.
She went to Nyakibale upper primary school for primary education, Kyamakanda Secondary school for O’ level Immaculate Heart Girls SS for A’ level. After ‘A’ level she immediately joined the army.
