As the Global world slowly recovers from the Pandemic, China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) has donated an assortment of medical masks, sanitizers and other items including soap and protective equipment to Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) to help bolster its efforts in curbing the spread of the pandemic among the Entebbe International Airport Community.
Speaking at the handover of the donation at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) headquarters on Wednesday, China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) Deputy General Manager Zheng Biao thanked Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) for working tirelessly during this difficult time of the lockdown to ensure the smooth transportation of Goods at Entebbe International Airport.
As the saying goes “A friend indeed is a friend in need”. At the very beginning of the pandemic in Uganda, CCCC has acted quickly to the appeals made by the Government of Uganda to donate mattresses, sanitizers, mosquito nets worth UGX 10million to Ministry of Health through Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and also Maize Flour and beans worth UGX 5 million to the community through the prime Minister’s office. Today we are very happy to contribute some medical masks, sanitizers gloves, soap, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) worth UGX8m to Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) for better prevention of the pandemic since they are working at the frontline to handle Cargo and Passengers.
On his part, the acting Director-General, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Mr. Fred Bamwesigye, thanked China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) for the timely donation and disclosed that the items will be mainly for use for the Airport Aviation Community.
“We are witnessing yet again another Collaborative effort by our friends (Chinese) China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) that have come at a very opportune time in our effort to receive Ugandans who have been abroad but also in a process of trying our collective effort with government and the global aviation community to try and open the Airport at an appropriate time. The items that CCCC has donated will be mainly for use for the Airport Aviation Community to help us (Airport Aviation Community) continue to have protective wear but also help in observing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that have already been issued by government of Uganda, World Health Organization (WHO) but also by the wider Aviation Community and also the regional and National Communities.
The items will go a long way in ensuring that we (Entebbe International Airport) observe the rules and regulations commonly known as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for handling aviation Passengers and other Stakeholders in a bid to comply with the rules that have been put in place”, Bamwesigye stated.
He continued;
The Aviation Industry has been one of the most hit by the pandemic simply because the Aviation Industry deals with the global community however we are making efforts to ensure that things come back to normal but with very serious caution. We appeal to the wider community in Uganda to look at the problem as it stands and bear with us where things might not becoming as faster as Ugandans want it to be.
China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) is undertaking the upgrade and expansion of Entebbe International Airport which include among others; new and modern Cargo Complex, Runways, and Aircraft parking aprons.
