    Inaugural Aviation Run Attracts Strong Field Of 700 Participants.

    Participants enjoyed early morning warm-up drills.

    It was more about the need to raise funds to support Entebbe General Referral Hospital that perhaps attracted a strong field of over 700 runners that graced the Inaugural Aviation run that was held on Sunday in Entebbe and the participants who were visibly excited and in high spirits converged at the Entebbe Mayors Garden where they enjoyed the early morning warm-up drills before they were flagged off for the 10km and 5km races respectively by the Entebbe Municipality Member Of Parliament Rose Tumusiime and Mr. Eyob Estifanos, the ICAO Eastern And Southern Africa (ESAF) Associate Regional Programme Officer .

    Uganda Peoples Defence Airforce (UPDAF) staff Agotre Primo emerged winner in the men’s 10km race category, and his success earned him a medal, Gift hamper and a return ticket to Mombasa courtesy of Uganda Airlines. Martin Sikoria and Waiswa Yafesi, also from UPDAF finished in second and third positions. They each walked away with medals and gift hampers.

    CAA Public Affairs Manager Vianney Luggya was the event MC.

    In the women’s category, Nsamizi Primary School’s Aloyo Christine finished in the first position ahead of Chemutai Sheprine (Entebbe Parents) and Akumu Sharon (Entebbe Comprehensive) who finished in second and third position respectively. They too walked away with medals and Gift hampers.

    Meanwhile, in the men’s 5km race category, Willy Kipsang (SFC), Baguma Brian and Oguma Patrick both from UPDAF finished in first, second and third positions respectively. They each walked away with medals and gift hampers. In the women’s 5km category, Nabukwasi Shakirah (St. Josephs Katabi), Ecoi Phiona (Nsamizi Primary School) and Tushamutuheire Justine (Entebbe Comprehensive) finished in first, second and third position respectively.

    In their remarks, Chief Guest Mr. Eyob Estifanos, MP Rose Tumusiime and Mayor Kayanja all hailed Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) that partnered with Uganda Aeronautical Information Service Officers Association (UGAISOA) to initiate the Aviation Run which was held to emphasize aviation’s role in connecting the world as part of global celebrations to involve stakeholders in commemorating ICAO’s 75th Anniversary activities. The Aviation run was crowned up with performances from local RnB Singing trio B2C.

    Over 200 runners participated in the Inaugural Aviation Run.
