Saturday marked yet another exciting day at Entebbe Golf Club as the Uganda Breweries sponsored Singleton match play Golf Challenge now in it’s second Edition attracted a strong field of 187 players who descended on the 18-hole course for the first round challenge.
A total of 64 golfers progressed to the second round slated for March 10, 2018. The best performing pair of the day comprising of Herbert Mwetemba and Kagoro Patrick thumped Mukiibi Moses and Andrew Atuhaire pair (7&6). Their success earned them three months free Dstv subscription. Other pairs that played exceptional golf included;
Nakalembe Irene and Magala Eva pair saw off Mbaguta Gloria and Asiimwe Evelyn Pair (7&5), Nsereko Paul and Nuwagaba Enock beat Oscar Semawere and Lyagaba Dan pair (6&5), Hamya Charles and Bogera Joseph knocked out first edition runners up Jadu Patel and Anthony Agaba pair (7&5), Baite Paul and Kagwa Duncan pair beat Alam Mboijana and Katutsi Vincent (6&5). Defending champions Isaac Mariera and John Muchiiri lost to Byamugisha Geoffrey and Ssebugwawo Moses 1-up.
In the subsidiary event, Isaac Mariera, Lutwama Richard and Mubiru Joseph topped Group A, B and C with 36, 41 and 38 stable ford points respectively. Nakamoga Bridget and Hasifah Kalungi topped Group A and B in the Ladies category with 41 and 51 stable ford points respectively. All the various winners walked away with prizes and goodies from various sponsors including Uganda Breweries and Dstv.
Celebrated Song Diva Winnie Nwangi mesmerized the golfers with her hits and left them thirsty and yearning for more. The golfers partied till late in the night thanks as they sipped Singleton whiskey.
