Tony Setaba 35, the former school van driver of Agali Awamu primary school in Katabi Town council was on Friday sentenced to 7years in prison for defiling a minor aged 7. The convict was convicted by High court Judge Dr. Justice Joseph Murangira after he pleaded guilty to defiling the victim (names with held) a pupil of Agali Awamu primary school.
Prosecution told court that the convict defiled the poor girl in his rental pad after picking her from her Grandmother’s home. A medical report from a police surgeon confirmed that the victim was defiled and
had her hymen raptured beyond detection. In his ruling, Justice Murangira informed court that though the convict he is a first offender and has shown remorsefulness, cases of defilement are rampant in the country and therefore, there is need to punish the perpetrators of this vice to deter the rest from committing such vices.

The Judge told the convict that the 7years awarded to him to serve in prison will enable him repent before God and preach the gospel of God in prison such that his fellow inmates come out of prison when they’re God fearing persons.
