
HIV positive man identified as Charles Atayo who raped his ex-wife Margret Telele Eleku five years ago at Nakigalala village in Kajjansi Town Council has been sentenced to 8years in prison. The convict was handed an 8year jail sentence by High court Judge Dr. Justice Joseph Murangira after he pleaded guilty to forcing his ex-wife into sex for a period of four months after they had separated.
The Judge told court that though the convict pleaded guilty and showed remorsefulness, he had intentions of infecting the victim who luckily survived contracting the deadly disease. In his ruling, Justice Murangira told court that the convict subjected the victim to domestic violence and that cases of domestic violence are on rise in the community and that there is need to penalize the
Perpetrators of this vice to deter others from committing the same or similar offences. The Judge told the convict that the 8year jail sentence would enable him reform in prison and advised him to preach the Gospel of God to his fellow inmates such that they repent before God for the evil deeds
they committed
