The first ever Entebbe Super Cup football and Netball Tournament will officially get under way on Saturday December 10, 2016 with Banga-Nakiwogo hosting Lunyo Central at the Banga football pitch. The Inaugural Hon. Rose Tumusiime sponsored Entebbe Super Cup Tournament has attracted 16 teams that have fully registered and have confirmed their participation in the football tournament. The teams that have been organized at the Village level format will play in their respective Divisions (Division A and Division B).
The teams include Katabi-Busambaga, Katabi-Kitubulu, Katabi-Namate, Manyango (1), Nakasamba, Virus, Kiwafu West, Kigungu Central, Mayanzi, Lugonjo-Nakiwogo, Kiwafu East, Bugonga, Lunyo Central, Post office, Banga Nakiwogo.
According to George Ntonganyi, one of the Tournament organizers revealed that the deadline for the remaining nine teams (villages) to register is Wednesday December 7.
“We have so far received confirmation from 15 teams but I’m hopeful that the remaining nine villages will by Wednesday have given us their teams. The tournament has been organized at the Village level with all the 24 villages that make up Entebbe Municipality given a chance to participate both in the football and Netball tournament”, Ntonganyi who also doubles as MP Tumusiime’s Aide told Entebbenews.
The winners, Runners up and first runners up both in the football and Netball tournament will walk away with different prizes ranging from trophies, medals, jerseys and a Bull.
According to Hon. Tumusiime the tournament will climax on January 26, 2017 when the National Resistance Movement (NRM) will be marking 31 years in Government.
“The aim of the tournament is to create unity among the different leaders because they are participating fully in the organization. Secondly I’m hopeful the tournament will be helpful in spotting talent among the youth. The tournament is the first of its kind in Entebbe Municipality and together with the different leaders we agreed to make it an annual tournament”, MP Tumusiime told Entebbenews.
