
Minister of works and Transport Eng. Monica Ntege Azuba will next week on Tuesday commission the Modern Entebbe Airport Baggage Handling system. The newly acquired state of the Art baggage handling system has a capacity of handling 120,000 -180,000 passenger bags per hour unlike the old one that would only handle 400-600 bags at peak hours.

Speaking at the closure of the three day blood donation exercise on Friday, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Publicist Vianney Luggya revealed that the new baggage handling Machine will put an end to delays by enhancing speed and efficiency.
The newly baggage handling system has a capacity of handling 120,000 – 140,000 bags per hour unlike the old Machine which could only handle 400-600 bags at peak hours. The modern system will enhance speed and efficiency and works minister Eng. Monica Ntege Azuba will commission the Machine, Vianney Luggya revealed.


Other projects that the Works Minister will commission include 22 check in counters, automated parking system that has been upgraded from 3 to 6 pay machines, Aeronautical Information Management System. Minister will also commission 44 Aviation Police quarters that were constructed by CAA. The 44 police quarters will be handed over to IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura who is expected to grace the function.
Besides the three day blood donation campaign, CAA also sponsored a Golf Tournament at the Uganda Golf Club to a tune of Shs30m in October and the Corporate League outing last Month at the Kyandondo Rugby Club to celebrate it’s Silver Jubilee.
Today (Friday) we have concluded the blood donation exercise and I would like to thank each and everyone who donated blood to save lives. The blood donation exercise started at the CAA head office on Wednesday, moved to the Control Tower on Thursday and concluded with the general Airport community at the Airport grounds, Vianney said.
