

Mourners from around Entebbe Municipality converged at Bugonga Catholic Church on Wednesday to say good bye to veteran physician Dr. Michael Abongomera who suddenly passed on in Nsambya Hospital in the wee hours of Monday morning. Dr. Abongomera who was knocked down by a Motorbike close to two weeks ago while he was going to his Clinic in Kitooro had been battling several life threatening illnesses including Diabetes, hypertension and was scheduled to undergo an operation after one his legs was fractured during the accident.
His eldest son Dr. Charles Abongomera who spoke on behalf of his siblings described their late father as a principled man who taught them Christian values.
He was a principled man who taught us Christian Values and always ensured that we attended Mass in Bugonga Church every Sunday. He taught us how to love and take care of one another and above all we are responsible members of the community because he educated all of us, Charles Abongomera told the mourners.

Dr. Mbonye the in the Ministry of Health along time friend of Dr. Abongomera described him as a genuine man who had a genuine smile who had immense love for treating Children. Dr. Mbonye tasked all young professionals in the health sector to emulate Dr. Abongomera’s good character, hard work, professionalism and genuineness.

Mayor Kayanja Vincent DePaul urged the deceased Children to emulate their father’s attributes.
The Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Rose Tumusiime described the late Abongomera as a man who was committed to his duty and nation and helped the under privileged.
He was a committed man who always treated the under-privileged and a great inspiration to the Entebbe residents. He was great father who loved people. He always endeavored to take his children to Church every Sunday. We shall miss his dedicated service to the Community, Hon. Tumusiime revealed.
In her eulogy Hon. Tumusiime urged the Police force to constantly remind motorists to respect Zebra Crossings.

Dr. Abongomera who was passed on aged 65 years held several senior positions in the civil service including Medical Superintendent Entebbe Grade A Hospital, Assistant Commissioner Health Services, Commissioner Occupational Safety and Health and Amuru District Service Commission where served from August 2012 to June 2016 as Chairman. He was to rest on Friday in Pabbo Amuru District.
Late Dr. Abongomera is survived by a widow Mary Abongomera and eight Children.
Dr. Abongomera, a man who run a Clinic in Kitooro for close to three decades will be missed by Entebbe residents young and old who benefited from his generosity and service while he treated them.
