
Nkumba Select, stormers, KIU and Miami Kops made a strong start in the 2015/16 Pepsi Beach league that got underway at Lido Beach on Sunday. Nkumba Select overcame Kayunga Town council 4-3 in the thrilling Hurriken group fixture. Douglas Muganga and Roch Somoka who also play for the national team each netted a brace to hand their side victory in the opening fixture. Wasswa Peter (1), Mubiru Budaia (1) and Jessey Lukooki (1) scored the consolation goals for Kayunga. Talented walloped new league debutants Kampala City All stars 5-2. Allan Kayiwa scored two braces while Allan Kasozi scored the single goal. Moses Sekasana and Allan Nsubuga each netted a goal for their new side.
Miami Kops who are also making their first appearance beat Buwanika Bulls 4-1. Dennilson Kisakye and Akram Bbosa each scored twice to get their first taste of victory. Pascal Mugisha scored the lone goal for Buwanika Bulls.
In the Monsoon group stormers were off to a perfect start with a 5-3 thrashing of YMCA. Kamba Churchill scored a hat trick while Mansoor Suuna scored twice to start the season on a positive note. The consolation goals for YMCA came from Victor Okotcha (2) and Joseph Nkabiirwa (1). Kampala International University (KIU) edged Real Galacticos 5-4 in a thrilling match. Kyobe Sempa (1), Kagingo Isma (2), Isaac Eshioke (1), Geoffrey Akabwai (1) were on the score sheet for KIU. Said Latif (1), Denis Selukwaya (2), Abdukarim Aviero (1) scored were on the score sheet for Real Galacticos.
Muteesa I Royal University beat Kabalagala Rangers 2-1. Julius Rulinda and Paul Kazo each scored a goal for the Buganda Kingdom institution while Kaggwa Hassan scored the lone goal for Kabalagala Rangers. Dalumba got a walk over after Uhuru Titans didn’t appear. The league resumes on September 6.
Meanwhile defending champions Makerere University Business School (MUBS) didn’t turn up due to an ongoing lecturer’ strike that has forced the team to suspend Beach Soccer league.
