It was on Thursday morning at around 9am when 43 year old Lydia Wakooli, a resident of Nkumba Bukolwa in Katabi Town Council embarked on her daily routine of sorting out and cleaning polythene bags (Buveera) at her home when she noticed a strange and suspicious man sneaking out of bush near her residence with intentions of whisking her away.
Luckily enough, she was able to notice the suspicious man and quickly ran into her house and the suspicious man vanished into the bush after his mission flopped.
“I was sorting out and cleaning Polythene bags and I saw a suspicious man who was stealthy emerging out of the bush and heading towards my direction, I quickly ran into the house after I noticed that the man was heading towards my direction. The suspicious man vanished into the bush. I immediately informed the area defence coordinator (security look-out team member) and other women I work with about my ordeal”, Wakooli narrated.

Immediately after the incident, the locals mobilized themselves and embarked on cutting down the bush to avoid wrong doers from using it as a hideout.
Police immediately rushed to the scene and started hunting down for the suspicious man in the bush and while they were searching the bush, they landed on a 22 year old man identified as Joseph Nsubuga who was digging a hole and behaving in a strange way a few meters away from where the body of Harriet Nantongo was found. When police interrogated him on why he was digging a hole, he claimed that he was looking for herbs for his wife but the locals quickly dismissed his claims and said that he is known in the area and has no wife.
Upon further interrogation, Joseph Nusubuga claimed that he was looking for herbs for his brother and that he is a traditional doctor. He was arrested and taken to Entebbe Police Station after Police noticed that his statements were uncoordinated.
Locals, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that Joseph Nsubuga was found with spare clothes because a coat was recovered from where he was nabbed.

Francis Walugembe, Joseph Nsubuga’s dad said that though his son had just gotten out of jail three days ago, he has no hand in the killings of women. Walugembe disclosed that his son is a traditional doctor who looks for herbs in the bushes and gives them to people.
Siraj Bakaleke, the RPC KMP South who joined the locals in cutting down the bush confirmed the arrest of Nsubuga Joseph adding that he will be interrogated further. Bakaleke also indicated that Police is investigating Lydia Wakooli’s ordeal.
