Three (3) people have been reportedly died in a Wednesday night accident along the Masaka-Kampala highway, while one is said to have been critically injured.
The accident registered by the territorial traffic police in Mpigi happened on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at around 11:40 p.m. in Kamengo at Kasuule Ayanguwa swamp along the Masaka-Kampala highway.
Reports indicate that the unfortunate incident involved two vehicles, M/Vs UAL 605 U Mitsubishi Fuso and UBH 247L Subaru Forester.
SP Kananura Michael, Public Relations Officer at the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, says the two vehicles collided instantly, killing three occupants in the Subaru Forester and injuring one.
“M/V UAL 695U Mitsubishi Fuso was from Kampala to Masaka side while at Kasuule Ayanguwa Swamp in Kamengo along Masaka-Kampala highway collided with M/V UBH 247L Subaru Forester, which was from Masaka to Kampala, killing instantly three occupants in a Subaru Forester,” he said.
The injured occupant was rushed to Double Cure in Mpigi for medication, while the deceased were taken to Gombe Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
By press time, the identities of the victims of the accident had not yet been disclosed.
The incident comes barely a day after a fatal accident was registered along Entebbe Road involving a concrete cement truck and a Mitsubishi. The accident claimed the life of Okoit Raphael, a lawyer who was also working as a lecturer at UCU.
