The golf season swings into action today (Saturday) at Entebbe Club January 10, where the hosts Entebbe Club welcome Uganda Golf Club’s Good Lyfe as they seek a hat trick of wins in their annual season opener that is dubbed “The Golf’s Community Shield” like the one in the English league.
“The golfer season opener is back again and we hope that Entebbe Club can turn the tables around this time,” Innocent Kihika, the chairman of Entebbe Club said. “This is like the “Community Shield” of golf in Uganda and it’s an annual event between the Goodlyfe and Entebbe Club members.”
The past editions Good Lyfe has beaten Entebbe Club in this round of friendly golf competition which off course leads to one of the teams leading in the bragging rights.
The series has been boosted by sponsorship from Britam Insurance Company Uganda Limited and Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve.
The tournament is the equivalent of the “Community Shield” in the EPL for the golf season and has usually attracted 20 teams from each side.
This year Goodlyfe has fallen short by three teams leaving Entebbe Club with a reserve of 8 players and gallery of another 10 players.
The previous 2 series have been won by Goodlyfe with the last one leaving a bitter taste at Entebbe as they lost by 1 point. Goodlyfe is confident that they can take this series too.
