Over 18 groups of people operating within Division A, Entebbe municipality, were on Monday given Shs. 30million from the central government. Through a government programme known as Discretionary Development and Equalization Grant (DDEG), each group was given between Shs.1million and Shs. 2.5million non-refundable amount of money.
While addressing the group leaders during a meeting held at Children’s park in Entebbe municipality, the Division A chairperson Michael Mutebi revealed that the local government he heads, received Shs.50million this quarter of the year. “We have already budgeted Shs.20million to developmental programmes such as constructing public toilets around different areas within the division and thus decided to disburse the remaining Shs30million to different groups of people,” stated Mr. Mutebi.

Meanwhile, the Entebbe Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Rose Kirabira promised to make a follow up on all the groups that benefited from the grant and vowed to arrest all group members who will misappropriate the disbursed funds. “I can see some faces which misused the funds that were given out under the Youth Livelihood Program, also showing up for this very fund, but this time I’ll not spare anyone who misuses this money,” noted the RDC.
Among the groups that received the funds include; Katabi friends Association, Magezi Muliro, Yesu Asobola poultry Association, Fellowship for the elderly, Blessed youth welding association among others.
