Socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has opened up about why she proudly flaunts her age, saying that she has never been afraid to speak openly about getting older.
Zari celebrated her 46th birthday on Wednesday, and while the internet might rush to call her old, in her interview with Sanyuka TV, she emphasized that she feels the exact opposite.
Recently, her leaked passport caused a stir on social media as it indicated 1978 as her birth year. Zari, however, cleared the air, noting that her real birth year was 1980 and the details on the leaked passport were her own way of acquiring her papers down in South Africa.
“I’m 46. I know people keep arguing about my age saying I’m older than that. My leaked passport showed a different year but everyone has their own way of obtaining her migration papers when they go outside Uganda. I had to change my birth year for that,” she said.
Zari explained that unlike most women, she doesn’t hide her real age because it isn’t something to fear or fight. However, the mother of 5 has tried to maintain herself and keep her body in shape. She attributed this to peace of mind and self-love, encouraging all women to take her path.
“I will never hide my age if that is how old I truly am. If you feel I’m too old, go with what you think if it makes you happy; good for you but as Zari, I will stay 46. Women have to love themselves. Sometimes we do something with our bodies but even with this, if you do not have inner peace, it won’t help you,” she said.

Zari will be celebrating her new age in an all-black-and-white lavish party at the new and highly publicized Marriott Hotel. She revealed that the party was strictly by invitation and any uninvited guests will be turned away.
