Celebrated songwriter and singer Dokta Brain has opened up about the controversy surrounding Winnie Nwagi’s verse on Nassanga Remix, noting that he had initially written it for Karole Kasita.
Dokta Brain is the writer behind the sensational verse that has music lovers glued to the song. Speaking to Galaxy FM, Brain revealed he had initially written the verse for Karole Kasita as compensation for not supporting her at her concert.
Karole Kasita had her concert a few months back and had mentioned that she received little support from fellow artists. She approached Brain for penning her verse for the Nassanga Remix, and as a way of making it up for not showing up for her show, he offered to write it for free.
“In that way, when she sent me that idea that she had to feature in that collaboration, I suggested that I would do that verse for free as an offer and also do another song still for free because as her friend, I was not supportive of her show,” he said.
When Karole listened to the verse, she was not impressed and suggested that he incorporate more English lines than Luganda because she thought it would suit her fanbase better.

“I wrote another version for her. I do not know if she gave the first version to Kalifah because he gave it to Winnie Nwagi. Maybe he didn’t like the second version. She was not impressed by the verse but when Winnie heard that it was me who had written it, she just ran to the studio because she never doubts me. I actually never saw Winnie during the voicing, I just saw her tagging me on the song,” he said.
Dokta Brain rated the verse as the best on the song.
