Kadongo Kamu legend Willy Mukaabya has addressed witchcraft allegations linked to Kadongo Kamu artists of their generation.
Over the years, rumours have been making rounds suggesting that Kadongo Kamu artists resorted to traditional methods to gain fame. Many were believed to have gone to witchdoctors seeking the power to get hit songs and also receive more bookings on shows.
Willy Mukaabya, during his TV interview, denied the allegations, saying he has continuously heard stories about witchcraft from his colleagues, but he could neither confirm nor deny whether they existed because he had never witnessed them personally.
He further noted that he never experienced anything witchcraft-related since he doesn’t believe in it.
“I cannot argue whether there was witchcraft or not. What I believe is that it follows those who believe in it. Me, who didn’t believe in witchcraft, I didn’t get anyone bewitching me nor did I bewitch my colleagues. This makes it hard for me to explain more about it. I used to hear that these things were happening but they neve got to me,” he said.
Mukaabya is among the top celebrated Kadongo Kamu artists, and he believes he got his fame and fan base because he not only puts in a lot of work but he is also blessed.

“People forget that in this world, there is something called blessings. There are people who are blessed and do not even need to go to traditionalists,” he said.
