Musician Chosen Becky and Ssekajja Abdul earlier this week tied the knot, officially sealing their controversial union.
Unlike the traditional weddings where couples walk down the aisle and exchange their vows before religious leaders, Chosen Becky, real name Rebecca Kwikiriza, and Ssekajja Abdul chose to do so before a judge in a civil wedding.
Becky, a Christian, and Abdul, a practicing Muslim, chose this path because it was neutral ground that could accommodate both religions.
While speaking to a close group of family and friends, the marriage officiant allowed both the bride and groom to say their vows and swear on their Bibles and Qurans, respectively, without judgment. Their relatives and friends from both sides enjoyed the day in unison.
Becky and Ssekajja later treated their guests to a colourful reception ceremony held at Ovacado Bay retreat along Entebbe Road.

The highlight of the event was when Becky’s sons made a surprising entry holding white placards with messages that were found controversial and mocking their father.
On the cards, the messages thanked Ssekajja for marrying their mom and for becoming a caring father they never had. They also reminded the public that their mother now owned the ‘Ssekajja’ name and no one would take that away from her.
