Independent presidential Candidate Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has come out to dismiss assertions which he said have been going around that he is not yet ready to be President.
Gen Tumukunde said yesterday that no particular training is needed for someone to be Head of State.
“Who prepared President Museveni? I don’t want to waste time on that. He (Museveni) was 42 years when he took power but I am now 60years, and I have 25 years of experience,” he said.
Gen. Tumukunde made these remarks while addressing the press, shortly before his presidential campaign in Bushenyi District.
“I want to assure you that if it comes to issues of governing the country, I am an expert even those people know that, I just call upon Ugandans to trust me because I have enough experience to lead this country as its president,” he said.
Tumukunde was concerned over what he called “ridiculous propaganda” which is being spread across that he is not experienced enough to be trusted with State Power which,” he said.
He went on to explain the various capacities in which he has served in the ruling government and expressed optimism of doing more,
Tumukunde, yesterday carried out campaigns in Bushenyi district and Rubirizi Districts.
