Uganda hosted the 19th summit of the Non-Alignment Movement (NAM) summit (15th to 21st January 2024) at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala city.
Vietnam was among the 120 countries in attendance at this forum that was established was far back as 1961 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
Vice president Her Majesty Vo Thi Anh Xuan led the Vietnam delegation for the NAM Summit whose theme was “Deepening cooperation for shared Global Affluence”.

H.E Anh Xuan held a number of high-profile official meetings and several talks with the different heads of states for the 120 member states, 18 observer countries and 10 observer organizations.
Ranking aloft these talks were topics aligned to strengthening diplomatic ties with the different countries through trade and commerce, politics, economics and other aspects of society.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Uganda and the Vietnamese chamber of commerce and industry.

In particular, H.E Anh Xuan held meetings with the host President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, of the Republic of Uganda; Secretary General of the United States Antonio Guterres and the first Vice President of Iran Mohammad Mokhber.
She applauded the progress of the countries’ relations and reached a common position for the need to foster coordination of stance at multilateral forums for the sake of peace, stability and sustainable development in the respective regions and the world at large.

Uganda was elected on the NAM chairmanship for the period 2024-2027 as Vietnam was elected the vice president of the executive committee of the 19th Non Alignment Movement (NAM) summit, representing the Asia-Pacific region.
