In 2015, the government of Uganda through the ministry of health obtained a 26 billion grant from the World Bank to renovate the national isolation center in Manyago in Entebbe.
The renovation works commenced in 2019, with the 80-bed capacity set to be completed in 2020.
Today, the permanent secretary in the ministry of health Dr Diana Atwine has declared the isolation center complete and ready to handle highly infectious viral diseases like Ebola, Marburg and Covid-19, as soon as Oxygen equipment is installed.
The centre is expected to relieve the Entebbe Regional Referral hospital, now overwhelmed by Covid-19 patients.
