Singer Victor Ruz, real name Wajja Victor, has opened up about what has kept him sober despite the pressure and demands from the music industry.
A lot of young artists have experienced the struggles that come with fame, keeping on the music trends and pressure to release hit songs. This has, in most cases, driven them to abuse drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism.
Victor Ruz, however, during his recent radio interview, revealed that he has kept himself alcohol- and drug-free because he witnessed a live example of these toxicants breaking a once happy home.
“Where I grew up from., our neighbor was an addict ever since our childhood. We always looked at him as a bad example. One time he disappeared and left his family behind; up to now, no one knows where he went. We grew up with his abandoned children as our siblings but we do not know where their father went to. It all started with the drugs. Even when his wife died, he didn’t come,” he said.

Watching all that, Victor Ruz made a vow to himself that he would never abuse substances out of fear of becoming like him.
He revealed that he doesn’t take alcohol, no weed, no drugs, no mairungi (Khat), saying he was so traumatized that he didn’t want such a thing to happen to him.
