Viboyo Explains Why Irene Ntale Left Swangz Avenue

Singer Viboyo has opened up about Irene Ntale’s departure from Swangz Avenue, saying it was her personal decision to walk away.

Irene Ntale dominated headlines in 2017 when she decided to leave one of the top music labels, Swangz Avenue, to pursue a solo career after four years.

Despite having several hit releases, music critics concluded that her career had never been the same since she quit.

According to Viboyo, Irene Ntale’s decision to leave the label was a personal choice and not influenced by anyone, revealing that her contract was still running despite her leaving.

“I will make a disclaimer first, I’m not a spokesperson for the label. It is a proper label with structures for stuff like that. One thing I would say is that Irene wanted to move on. It was her decision; totally her decision. She wanted to move on, and she did. I will leave it at that. The contract was still on,” he said.

Viboyo further discussed the chance of an artist surviving solo after quitting a label, noting that it all depended on the kind of person he/ she was, turning down the request to discuss Irene Ntale’s current position in the industry post the label.

“I think it also goes back to what kind of person you are. There are people who leave levels and are even more aggressive. Then there are those that leave the labels and their careers go down. I do not want to be judgemental here. I might say whatever I want to say when she is really comfortable where she is. Maybe this should come from her; she could be comfortable and who am I to say she is not comfortable. That is a question she needs to answer herself,” he said.
