Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has unveiled a vibrant new visitor information point at Entebbe International Airport, featuring striking gorilla sculptures designed to showcase the country’s rich wildlife heritage.
According to Simplicious John Gessa, the Uganda Tourism Board Public Relations Manager, the sculptures form part of UTB’s broader destination branding campaign aimed at boosting Uganda’s visibility as a premier tourism destination.
“This initiative spotlights the country’s iconic gorilla trekking experiences in Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks our key attraction for eco-tourists worldwide.” Gessa said.
The artistic representations not only celebrate Uganda’s natural treasures but also invite visitors to explore the “Pearl of Africa” and its diverse landscapes.
This initiative aligns with Uganda’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable tourism and leverage its extraordinary biodiversity to attract more travelers.
“The gorilla sculptures are expected to become a new landmark and a visual symbol of Uganda’s commitment to preserving and showcasing its wildlife riches.” Gessa said.
It should be noted that these efforts follow the recent partnership between Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) where they revamped a collaborative effort to enhance Kampala’s beauty, promote tourism, and support environmental conservation.
The agreement includes beautifying major roads in Kampala with symbolic animal sculptures and installing wildlife monuments at key locations. This will further reinforce Kampala’s image as a nature-conscious city and educate the public about wildlife.
