
The United States Government has pledged to support Uganda’s Agricultural sector in a bid to increase export earnings and create more Jobs for the unemployed youth. Speaking in a closed door meeting with US Ambassador Deborah Malac, Minister for Agricluture Vincent Sempijja revealed that Uganda’s Agricultural sector is grappling with several challenges including low Agricultural export earnings, pests and diseases, fake Agricultural in-puts, illegal fishing gear and little value addition.
Uganda’s Agricultural sector is facing several challenges including low Agricultural export earnings, pests and diseases such as the cotton Ball Worm, fake Agricultural in-puts, illegal fishing gear and little value addition but I’m glad that the US government through their Ambassador Deborah Malac have expressed their willingness to help us combat the challenges and modernize the sector, Minister Ssempijja said during the meeting.
Meanwhile Ambassador Deborah Malac revealed that the US Government will render their support to ensure that the challenges are dealt with. She disclosed that the US Government will help on the farming techniques, sensitize and train farmers on value addition, and the importance cooperatives. Ambassador Malac also indicated that the US government will help the Agriculture ministry train Ugandans on fish farming.
