Its proving quite a few days for Ugandans on the international stage, as our very own Angella Summer Namubiru is bringing home a People’s Choice Award.
The People’s Choice Awards, hosted annually by NBC’s entertainment channel E! recognizes people in entertainment business. Nominees are voted online by the general public and fans.
Ms Namubiru clenched the prestigious award in the category of African Social Star of 2022.
She beat to the award South African actress Ama Qamata, TV start and socialite Shauwn Mkhize, Sphokuhle and Khanyi Mbau, Liqourose, Swanky Jerry from Nigeria and Angolan actress Juddy da Conceição.
“What great News my Fellow Ugandans, let’s celebrate this Uganda,” Namubiru announced on Twitter on Wednesday.
“We are the winners of the @peopleschoice awards 2022”
Namubiru, a dark-skinned beauty, burst into instant fame on TikTok recently. With over 5.7 million followers, she’s one of the biggest African stars on the platform.
Her award comes just days after Ugandan Singer Eddy Kenzo was nominated for the Grammy award
