The body that regulates Umrah travel companies in Uganda, the Ugandan Bureau of Hajj Affairs, has clarified Chosen Becky’s recent trip to Mecca.
The Bureau, in a meeting chaired by Sheikh Kyewalyanga Zakaria, revealed that Chosen Becky, real name Rebecca Kukiriza, did not travel for Umrah with any Ugandan Hajj group.
They revealed that the artist obtained a visit visa from Mali, allegedly intended for a music gig that she was scheduled to perform at in Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh.
Chosen Becky has been trending in the news ever since Abdul Kadhir proposed to her. Recently, videos of the couple having a great time and exploring Kabba have been circulating on social media.
What captured religious leaders’ attention was Becky confessing upon her return that she is not of the Muslim faith. With this, they embarked on an investigation to determine how she had gained access to the holy land.
“We found that when Becky left Uganda, she didn’t go for Umurah. She went to perform at shows outside Mecca,” Sheikh Kyewalyanga said as he read the results of the investigation led by the secretary, Sheikh Hussein Mutyaba.
They also discovered that her travel was facilitated by a music promoter, Rasul, rather than any company registered with the Bureau.

When contacted, the promoter allegedly revealed that his arrangement with the artist was only for her performances and not the visit to the holy land. Her fiancé, however, was identified as the person behind her visit.
They urged the couple to seek forgiveness from God for the unholy act and also advised Becky to convert to Islam.
