Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Miriam Akello has sentenced Jackson Ssewanyana aka Uncle Money, the popular Uganda Cranes cheerleader to four years in jail after being convicted of attempted murder.
Ssewanyana, who is also the Kasubi zone iv LC 1 Vice Chairperson was convicted of attempted murder and theft of a mobile phone alongside Benson Ssenyonga the Defense Secretary at the same village
“Convicts are first offenders whom court will grant an opportunity to reform by sentencing them to a custodial sentence of four years,” the Magistrate ruled.
State Prosecutor Timothy Amerit had asked court to grant the convicts a deterrent sentence to serve as example to the rest would-be offenders.
The convicts on the other hand, had asked court to grant them a lenient sentence because they have families to take care of.
According to prosecution evidence brought in court, the accused on 16th August 2019 caused the death of Tumusiime Siraje Hakim Tumusiime, a phone dealer at Mutaasa Kafeero whom they handed over to a group of youth who assaulted him leading to his death.
